Our Place & Play devices are now more accessible than ever

Welcome to the evolution: our Place & Play devices are now more accessible than ever

Visionect, 15 Oct 2019

There are more than 27,000 bus stops across Sydney, but only two like these, raves Australia’s Ten Eyewitness News, reporting on the eStops, the real-time bus information boards installed at two of the busiest bus stops in the city.

As Visionect-powered digital signs grow in number across the world, we are taking the next step in our mission to empower people in public spaces with easily accessible information. We have significantly reduced the price of our ready-to-use electronic paper displays, bringing Place & Play’s seamless, energy-efficient tech to everyone, everywhere.

“It is not the strongest of the species that survives,” goes the saying attributed to Charles Darwin, the father of the science of evolution. “The species that survives is the one that is best able to adapt to the environment in which it finds itself.”

And Visionect digital signage products are nothing if not adaptable. Visionect-powered digital signage – solar-powered, energy-efficient and completely cordless – has proved triumphant in any environment in which it has been deployed. Not merely surviving, but thriving, we are now entering the next phase in the evolution of Visionect technology.

Supported by increased user demand and the rapidly growing market, we are now making more available what used to be one of our niche products – the Place & Play electronic paper display.

Going mainstream

Visionect, the company behind the Place & Play, has been making electronic paper signage since 2007. During this time we have witnessed the birth of Kindle and have seen it become a staple of book lovers everywhere; we were there when the market for meeting room signs exploded, with Joan, our meeting room management system, at the forefront of this new office must-have. We looked on as the world became more and more digitally-savvy, with connected displays and screens now more than commonplace in our daily lives.

The digital signage market had matured and with it the company. We are now selling our hardware in greater numbers across the world, from Europe to the US, Australia, India, Russia and everywhere in between, with our high-performing tech supporting solutions that range from wayfinding, traffic signs, airport signage, real-time bus arrivals, meeting room management and more.

As a consequence of this hyper-production, the production costs of system boards, displays and other components that make the magic that is Visionect-powered e-paper are exponentially falling. This reduction in component costs makes it possible for us to significantly reduce Place & Play prices and take a step forward in our mission to empower people in public spaces with easily accessible information.

An all-in-one blank canvas

Just like Joan, Place & Play is a ready-to-use indoor digital display developed on electronic paper technology. Unlike Joan, however, Place & Play is the perfect blank canvas on which to show your custom message. And it is now available for just € 899 ($ 999), with a price reduction of over 25%!

Moving from early adopters of the technology into early majority, the 13-inch Place & Play, the latest in our series of “DIY” e-paper devices, works straight out of the box, combining mount, display and software player in a single piece of sleek tech. Connecting via Wi-Fi and running up to 12 months on a single battery charge, the high-end device is enclosed in a precision-brushed aluminum casing and is enforced with durable glass to protect from scratching.

Backed by the zero failure track record of Visionect-powered tech and a more than a decade of low-power signage know-how, this next step in the evolution of electronic paper is supported by the Visionect Software Suite, in charge of all the operational aspects of running an electronic paper sign, from the content displayed to battery life and connectivity. Simple to use, reliable and scalable, it enables clients to easily roll out the signage solution that best suits their particular needs – wherever, whenever.

All this, plus an XL display

Even more: knowing that one size does definitely not fit all, we have also lowered the price of the 32-inch version of Place & Play by a whopping 42%, now retailing at € 2,300 ($ 2,576).

Our easy to use large-scale sign, the XL Place & Play features a larger active area of 691 by 389 mm (27 by 15 in.) but includes all the amazing functionalities of its smaller predecessor. The only large-format digital sign combining mount, display and software player, 32’’ Place & Play operates without a wire in sight, supporting any number of amazing signage ideas.

Who knows, your project might be next!
