A new milestone in creating electronic paper signs in large formats: the 32” development kit

Visionect, 14 Mar 2016

Visionect and E Ink® have launched a new system for creating large e-paper signs: a development kit for designing 32’’ digital signage solutions, supporting the largest single electronic paper module in production and enabling the quickest way to a production-ready sign.

Introducing a new milestone in the development of production-ready, energy saving, wireless digital signs in large formats: the new 32” electronic paper development kit.

At 32’’, the newest Visionect development kit is approximately 25X the size of an eReader.  Supporting the largest single module e-paper display available, it is a turnkey solution for developing production-ready digital signs.

Developed in partnership with E Ink® Holdings, the 32’’ development kit joins Visionect’s existing family of epaper development products, all of which support product development for displays ranging from 6” to 13” and represent a turnkey solution in quickly deploying real-environment digital signs.

The 32’’ will be showcased for the first time at Digital Signage Expo 2016, taking place in Las Vegas March 15 –18, at E Ink’s booth #2237.

The 32’’ development kit is available in grayscale (supporting a resolution of 2560 X 1440 pixels and 16 level grayscale) and color (supporting a resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels and a RGBW color scheme). Both kits support the driving of an LED based front light with an integrated ambient light sensor.

25X the size of an eReader, in color or grayscale

At 32’’, the newest Visionect development kit is approximately 25X the size of an eReader. Supporting the largest single module e-paper display available, it is a turnkey solution for rapidly prototyping new digital signage products and quickly transitioning them to real end products.

With the latest addition to our family of kit development products, we are able to support design requirements from small to large digital displays with turnkey solutions that greatly simplify the end product design.

The kit is available for both color and grayscale 32’’ displays and is integrated with Visionect’s software and hardware platform, developed specifically for large-scale epaper deployments.

“The demand for epaper based signage solutions is growing at a rapid rate. The demand is created by the need for low power solutions that are easily deployed where they are needed, without the need to build out costly infrastructure.” commented Matej Zalar, CEO of Visionect. “With the latest addition to our family of kit development products, we are able to support design requirements from small to large digital displays with turnkey solutions that greatly simplify the end product design.”

The energy efficiency and robustness of e-paper makes the technology an excellent solution for environments where power consumption and readability are important considerations.

Perfect for demanding environments

The energy efficiency and robustness of epaper signage makes it an excellent solution for displaying clear, crisp information under all lighting conditions, both indoors and outdoors.

This is particularly true where power consumption and infrastructure costs are a very important consideration, such as in wayfinding, advertising and passenger information solutions, to name but a few.

“Epaper is increasingly emerging as the technology of choice for smart interconnected signage.” said Harit Doshi, head of the Signage Business Unit for E Ink. “The new kit supporting our 32” epaper displays will expand the application of signage solutions to many new areas, particularly to areas requiring extra adaptability such as energy consumption or outdoor readability.”

The 32’’ color and grayscale development kits are available for purchase in Visionect’s online store, with a special promotional discount that is valid until April 15 2016.

The 32’’ development kit joins Visionect’s existing family of epaper development kits supporting production-ready digital signs ranging from 6” to 9.7’’ (pictured), 10.7’’ and 13.3”.
